Following the formal business of the AGM there will be a talk by Morgause Lomas.
Scouts have a large range of Activity badges, including Air Researcher, Crafts, Local Knowledge, Photographer and Survival Skills. However, the Archaeology badge was discontinued about 20 years ago. Morgause Lomas is a Scout who graduated in Archaeology from Cambridge University and wanted to encourage members of scouting to gain a wider understanding of the History and Heritage of Derbyshire as well as interesting members in Archaeology .
She developed the Derbyshire Scouts Archaeology Badge as part of her Scout of the World Award, which encourages older Scouts, aged 18-25, to carry out an 80-hour project of their choice covering the topics of Environment, Sustainability and Peace. As a result, the Derbyshire Scouts Archaeology Team was formed and has gone from strength to strength, gaining a prestigious National Award and recognition amongst Scout Counties throughout England as well as International interest.
