Speaker: Dan Waterfall
Following the demolition of the standing buildings at Milford, archaeological excavations were carried out on the former site of the bleach and dye works in early 2023. Removal of the concrete floor slab from across the site revealed the remains of some of the original buildings, and uncovered the mill lade, allowing a record of the site to be made prior to its redevelopment. The talk will give an overview of the archaeological process and the findings of the excavation. Dan Waterfall studied archaeology at the University of Nottingham, and since graduating in 1996 has worked as a commercial archaeologist in the Midlands, London, the Southwest, and Yorkshire. He has worked at CFA Archaeology since 2018, carrying out archaeological investigations ranging from small watching briefs in the back gardens of residential properties to long running excavations on major infrastructure projects.
